MG MGB Technical - Steering wheel sizes

The steering wheel on my newly purchaced 1970 B is in need of a new skin. It had one of those black covers with the cord rapping around it. It was filthy so I took it off. The original rubber is deteriating and I would like to install a leather rap or something that looks better. Looking in the parts books I notice that there were several diameters available over the years. How do you actually measure a steering wheel, outside diameter, inside or middle of rod? I measured mine and found that it is 15.5 inches from the outside of the rubber. Is this concidered a 15 inch wheel?
Don

I would guess you have a non-standard wheel and that it leaves a dirty mark on your trousers - you want a 14" wheel I suggest - smaller and your good lady will need biceps like a bus driver.
