MG MGB Technical - Seats , can anyone identify?

Hi guys, I have a pair of reclining seats sat in my stores. Been there for over 30 years!

I thought they might be Triumph Spitfire, or GT6, but squabs are different.
Definitely not MGB, but I am sure they will fit.
The headrests are very BL.

There should be a picture attached.
Can anyone help?

Thanks Mike, not them I am afraid. Seat squab is different and I checked the parts book, and it is a totally different construction. But thanks anyway

Nope Mike not Scimitar. They are very similar to Spitfire.
Different bottom squab and different method of construction.

When I had a GT6 I tried to get better sets for it (another unbelievable chapter to my car experiences book with unreliable self-employed traders and manufacturer/suppliers being economical with the truth) so I know their floor area is very restricted for seat fitting, I assume the Spitfire is the same.

The bottom cushion looks very long so could it be from a bigger car or even a saloon, the tilt handle looks too posh for many a BMC/BL offering.

Nigel that is the best suggestion up to now, which i hadnt already checked!

Very similar shape to Chimeara, but different handles. They will be 80's cos I have had them for ever!

More research required!

yes a bit Chim like but older and certainly not with that headrest. They look vinyl so I discounted the posher British brands. Chims and (90s) Griffs were all leather IIRC.

Your seats reminded me of when I had my B roaster in the 90s I bought some MGOC TVR-style leather seats for it and then soon sat on them with a screwdriver or something in my back pocket and put a small surface split in them which I had to superglue. Two weeks ago I done the same to my wife's car - older but no wiser!

OK how about 5/6 headrest looks BLMC type.

I think it wasn't until the TR5 that the seat backs moved.(?) I've always particularly like the look of the 4s and 5s and was talking to an owner at a show three lifetimes back and I think that was one of the facts that surprised me (or I might have remembered wrong).

ETA: Rich, you posted whilst I was typing - not sure about that headrest for 5 or 6 but I could be wrong and the headrest might not be original to seat.

are you sure the set is set up correctly, the back looks, er, too far back from the base - which made me think of a 6' 4" Peter Wheeler (I'm just over 5' 4").

They don’t look like TR6 to me. My brother and myself each had one.

Richard the head rests are very BL.

I didn't think the seats or headrests are TR6 - for some unknown, and usually totally wrong, reason I get the feeling of a saloon/coupe/2+2, the seat seems familiar but unknown to me.

Having said that, someone put up a part that they thought was a door handle and I offered a suggestion as I thought it looked familiar to me and it turned out to be the handle for the rake adjustment on a midget seat, as I see everytime I get into my car!

I've spotted Lord Lucan several times!

Very similar to M series TVR, but again different construction. What TVR came after the M series?

The Ms IIRC are the ones without a hatch, so if the Taimar had a hatch that was next, I think.

The aspect ratio reminds me of the seats in my father's Rover 2000 that we brought to the states in 1967. I don't recall if it was a '66 or '67.
