MG MGB Technical - Seat belt bolt hole
I have been putting my 79 MGB back together after striping for painting. I installed sound deadening material and carpets. I DID cut around the top hole where the seatbelt mechanism mounts. I went to install the seat belts, mounted the mechanism and the latch. Then I realized I had no where to mount the other end of the seat belt. I must have covered it with the sound deadening material and the carpet. Can anyone help me with the location to where the other end mounts? |

Hi Bob. The bolt hole you are seeking is on the insise of the sill about 4 inches forward of the vertical panel behind the seat and 1 inch above the floor panel. it is almost exactly opposite the hole in the tunnel which carries the latch. Jim |

Bob,now you have the approximate position, continue the search by pushing a needle through the carpet to find the exact spot.Regards Peter |

You can see both ends of the mounting points from the other side. The top one- look behind the rear wheel and you will see a disk of metal about 3 inches across. The other one is in the transmission tunnel. You can then measure back from 2 points of reference common to both sided. |

Thanks from your directions I found the holes. This saved me a lot of work. I was getting ready to tear out the carpet to locate them. Thanks Again Bob |
