MG MGB Technical - Replacement Wiring Harness

I am currently replacing the wiring harness from my Australain made 1969 MGB MKII (YGHN4)-Dash to Motor. The problem I have identified is which harness do I replace it with. A part number or even a supplier would be very helpful.

I'm presently in the process of completely rewiring my '76B (omitting any of the emission-related or seat-belt sensor circuits) and am using a standard harness from Painless Performance. While their kits are well put together, I sure do miss a schematic as I relate much better to knowing what wire is going where (electrically) as opposed to a wire being labelled "to headlight switch B+". So there has been much head-scratching with the MG schematics and intuitive reasoning to make sure that everything gets connected the right way and switches switch things that are supposed to be switched - if you get my drift.

Had I known about them early, I think I would have opted for the kits offered by Advance Auto Wire which are specifically set up for the B and have a number of upgrade modifications (relays and such) to reduce loads on switches. I'm putting relays in on the Painless Kit but it involves some convulted wiring.

Just as a general aside, it was "interesting" to note the amount of melted insulation and bare wire I found inside the loom of my old wiring harness,, so I'm glad that I'm doing the job and hope this will correct a number of faults and switcheroos by previous owners.

I rebuilt my '67 Roadster around 8 years ago and a chap from Nedlands WA made my wiring harness in accord with the original design and my own specific extras (driving lights etc).

MG supplier out of Gelong Vic was very helpful [6 years ago] Complete kit including diagrams globes etc. For most parts I use Heritage MG at Smithfield NSW 0296093955] who are also excellent. They have an online site and list all possible looms for the MG with prices in the mid $500 [www.mgspareparts.com.au] Try any of the MG clubs and they will direct you locally or with part identification.
