MG MGB Technical - Relative position of pipes and loom

This is a RHD question. Relating to a 1974 single circuit brakes no servo car.

I am interested in the positions of the brake and clutch pipes relative to the branches of the wiring loom that goe down the inner wing towards the starter motor, rear of the car etc.

Some of the pictures I have seen conflict or are not clear.

Does the loom run flat on the inner wing with the pipes passing over it as if the loom was fitted first?

Does anyone have pictures that show the route of the clutch pipe and the route of the brake pipe in detail? (send to davidwitham1961 at yahoo dot co dot uk)

At the brake pipe junction block I believe the pipe from the master cylinder comes in from the north union (when viewed from the other side of the car). Is it correct to assume the rear brake pipe uses the east union? Which front brake uses the south union and which one uses the west union? Any clear pictures of how the pipes run as they enter and leave the union would be appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance,

David

Doubt if either of mine would be relevant as they have been replaced in the past and have remote servos. Most of the pictures in Clausager show the pipes going over the loom, bar that on p66. I think logically this is more likely as it is going to be easier to put a bend in the pipe to pass over the straight harness to prevent crushing or rubbing, rather than expect the bend to be in the harness, or even worse crush or rub wires. Also seems to make sense to have the pipe from the master coming in to the top, that to the left caliper from the port facing the firewall, the rear brakes from the lower port, and the right caliper from the port facing forwards, as that way has no crossing pipes.

Paul, thanks for your comments. Working on the basis of pipes not crossing I had thought the front port would serve the near side as the pipe crosses the car via the cross member.

My car was originally LHD so I was not able to take pictures in advance.

Fair do's. I was thinking of it going over the top but as I say mine both have the remote servo.

Hi David, my car is no longer original in that area (how could it be with steel pipes of that age) however the copper ones do follow the lines of the original fit and i will send you a pic manana
