MG MGB Technical - Race Seats - what works in an early B?

Hi all

I'm looking to put an FIA approved race seat in my Mk 1 B. This will need to be a bottom mount style seat and I would like it to be as low as possible.

I do know the Cobra Monaco fits but this is quite a basic seat and would like to try some others. What is anyone running?

I like the look of the Sparco Pro 2000 which is also bottom mount but not sure if this will fit.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks, Grant

Most manufacturers have dimension tables on their website. Iirc the max base width is 490mm if you want to fit the seat below sill level, and 540mm if you can accept mounting it above the sill level and slightly of center to the steering wheel. In a roadster shoulder width isn't as important, but in a GT the car width at 700mm from the floor is only 1150mm so you need to find a seat with shoulder bolsters that are't too wide. Dimensions given are approx. as it's some time since I did the measuring. Hope this helps.

I have a Corbeau Clubman in my 'BGT. Though it fits in the car just fine, the seat to "seat" interface is a bit tight when the harness is in place...and I've got a 32" waist.

I run Kirkey's in the 67 GT so I can tell you they fit. Very light and very snug; not really a street seat. Affordable.
