MG MGB Technical - Parking lights out
The parking lights on my '67 BGT and the number plate lights sometimes work, and sometimes not. The headlights and all other electrics work fine. The 4 parking lights (front & rear) must all be on the same circuit., right? I assume it must just be a dirty connection somewhere. Where would the fault most likely lie? Bernie |

Bernie - I would start at the switch and see if there is voltage at that point when the park lights should be on. If there is, then start working out from there. Keep in mind also that it could be bad grounds, although all three ground points would have to be bad to cause this problem. There is a seperate ground for each of the front lights and a single ground (under one of the license plate mounting bracket) for the rear lights. See my article on ground point preparation at: http://www.omgtr.ca/technical/General%20Technical/grounding.htm Good luck - Dave |

Hi Bernie. As your fault is intermittant, you may find that gently waggling the wiring / connectors while someone watches the lights will identify the problem. Take a look at http://www.mgcars.org.uk/electrical/pre__69.html HTH... Don |
