MG MGB Technical - Non standard fuel pump mounting

Where is the best place to bolt a non standard modern style fuel pump on a 78 roadster? Mine has a little square Fawcet pump. When I got the car it was sitting in the boot with two rubber hoses going through the large hole in the back. Obviously not the best way to do it!

I was thinking I could bolt it to the battery box and use some rubber mounting blocks to hopefully deaden out the tick-tick-tick noise it makes. Or is it better to bolt it to the vertical bit at the front of the boot next to the hole there.

I don't see too much wrong with putting it inside the boot with rubber hoses. Much better than running the fuel pipes up to the battery box and then making a join in the pipes there with a fuel pump.

Simon,

I'm sure you can install the pump with a couple of aluminum straps up against the seat wall in the boot. You might also want to get someting to protect the hoses from getting smacked around from something in the boot.
Keep the ticking--you know it's working

Simon,
My Facet pump is mounted on the vertical panel behind the cockpit floor next to the battery box. I fitted a rubber mounting block to limit the din but don't worry - you can still hear the ticking very well.

Funnily enough, I'm thinking of moving it to the boot for easier access!

Simon - The right side battery box outer upright is where I mounted the Facet pump that I am using as a permanent backup pump. I mounted it using a couple of sound mounts available from Pegesus Racing and it is acutally quieter than the standard SU pump that is the primary pump. I will send you the article that I wrote regarding backup pumps that has pictures of the mounting. Good luck - Dave
