MG MGB Technical - Need Help Identifying a Hose

My car is a 1973 MGB. I was installing new shocks on the rear this evening (which made an unbelievable difference in the handling and ride) and on the passenger side, beside the fuel pump, there are two small clear hoses that are just hanging down, not connected to anything. They are about 1/8" (3mm) in diameter. When trying to track them, one runs into the frame, near the shock. The other hose runs along the same path as the wiring harness and gas line toward the rear of the car.
What are these lines? Are they suppose to be connected to anything?
Thank you for your help.

Robert,
I believe these are breathers of some sort for the fuel pump. I think one for sure passes through a grommet and ends up in the boot.

Robert - The two hoses do in fact connect to the vent ports on the fuel pump. If your pump has been changed, it may have only one vent port at the bottom of the coil housing. Some of the pumps have a second vent tube on the end cover next to the power terminal. As Ahareef said, the hoses should be routed up into the trunk (the theory is that the air is dryer in there. The two hoses (if needed for two ports) can be hooked together with a T fitting. Good luck - Dave

As Shareef and David correctly stated, I found out that these tubes are for venting the fuel pump. However, my fuel pump is fairly new (approximately one year)and was put on by my MG shop, and does not have any connections for these vent tubes to connect onto. So, what should I do with them? Just let them hang? Connect them together? Remove them? Suggestions.
Thanks.

Robert, you most likly replaced the OEM pump with an electronic version. The original pump had vents for the electical contacts that made it work. The electronic does not have a contact chamber. Plug the hoses. some day you may want to "restore" to OEM.

I have new electronic version of SU pump and it has two vents to connect hoses....but I still tend to agree with Doug....inspect the pump and if you can't find small tubes coming off the pump then you probably don't need them. For future reference for all of us exactly what brand/model of pump is it? If you don't need the tubes, I wouldn't leave them hanging around. Disconnect them, plug the hole to the trunk where they should go now and put them in your "Back to OEM" parts box.
