MG MGB Technical - MGF stuffed MGB

Can the MGF power train fit in a 74 + MGB?
vem myers

Vern, ya nut... anything CAN be done, it's all a question of "is it worth it."
To get an F powertrain in a B, at the very least, you'd have to (a) get hold of one in the US and (b) figure out how to swap the transverse-mid-engine mounting for a conventional, longitudinal setup.
The F transaxle is useless to you, so you'll have to figure out transmission. Really, all you're bringing in is the engine.
So you do all that, and you figure out how to put it in. It's not that big, so maybe you don't even have to cut or pound anything. Then you just have to patch all the Fuel Injection and engine control sensors into the B wiring loom...

Sure does seem like a lot of effort for a relatively small and not particularly potent engine.

Vern,

Whole MGF engine and transmission - very difficult. Really you would be starting out towards an MGF woth an MGB body shell.

However, putting an MGF engine into an MGB shell is rather easier. There is a company in the UK that puts Rover K series engines, as used in many MG and Rover cars in Europe - including the MGF, into both MG midgets and MGBs. I don't know what gearboxes they use.

I cannot find their name etc ast the moment but please email me direct if tou want me to look fot them.
