MG MGB Technical - Master Cylinder line connections

I noticed in both the Moss and the Victoria British Catalog that the brake line connections to the master cylinder seem wrong to me.

I am referring to the US version MC with a servo, from '75 on.

Both show the rear brake line connected to the lower of the two rear connections on the Master Cylinder. The two front lines are connected to the top rear connector and the connector farthest forward.

This is not how I have connected mine. How should the lines be connected?

John. It has been so long since I dealt with Moss that I do not have a catalog in hand. But, the two front brake lines are attached to the two rearwards most fittings and the single line going to the rear brake system is attached to the single forwards fitting.

Thanks Les,

That is the way I have always connected them. But after I saw them connected differently in both VB and Moss catalogs I started to question myself.

Hope those diagrams don't cause more grief for someone than some of their parts! ha!

I tried to upload copies of the two diagrams but for some reason the upload box would not cooperate.

John. Not a problem when you think about it. The front brakes have to operate off the same section of the master cylinder or you do not have the dual brake system that was intended. Yes, the various vendor catalogs are useful in many cases. But, do not consider them to be definitive, especially when they do not make sense.

Haynes shows them as Les describes. Sounds to me like Moss etc. are getting confused with diagonal dual line systems, where each front was partnered with the rear on the opposite side. The Moss arrangement would probably put you into the nearest hedge of oncoming traffic.
