MG MGB Technical - Manifold spacer cracked

Hi.
Whilst under the bonnet I saw this crack on one of the carb manifold spacers.
Anybody seen this before?
Thanks

They're supposed to be insulating gaskets (blocks to me). Unless they full crack open or falling apart I'd not worry about it as the new SU replacement parts look inferior and you could bless whichever deity you're gambling on that you can see such things - my two pen'th.

If mine had it I'd not see it, if I saw it I'd not worry about it unless it got worse, like me you have it sandwiched between the other expensive SU gaskets already.

Is it cracked right through i.e. causing a vacuum leak? Spray carb cleaner or propane at it and see if the engine note changes.

Hi.
I've sprayed with brake cleaner and the engine doesn't change speed so not cracked all the way through.
So I will keep watching it.
Thanks.

I had one of these crack wide open on the 71 midget with it was fairly new, creating a major vacuum leak. The replacement has lasted 50 years with no signs of deterioration, while the other remains good as new. Factory defect? That certainly wasn't the only one! I would keep an eye on it or replace it the next time you are doing carbs.
