MG MGB Technical - low muffler?

my muffler droped to the ground on my 1968 mgb roadster. at first it just looked like the muffler straps broke, but when i went to put it back on the part towards the engine is very low to the ground. its about 5" off the ground but it looks like it could get hit by anything that was ran over.

any help please

5" was the original factory ground clearance.
