MG MGB Technical - Location of carb overflow lines

Gents,

I am restoring a 1967 3 synchro B.

Having installed the carbs themselves I am now looking how to install the overflow lines.

In all the books on the B I have only come across the photo of a pre-production car with the engine out showing these lines.
The fixture point shown, stud of the mechanical fuel pump cover, is not fitted to the GD type engine block.
Does anyone have photos or a simple explanaton.

Look forward to your feedback

Kind regards,

Frank

Frank, I believe that MGA's and early pre 62'MGs had over flow lines. Around 1968 U.S. MGs had a smog pump and a extra port hole in each SUs was added for the carcoal canister hoses. Mid 60s MGs that I've seen only had a fuel hose from carb to carb and a "Y" pipe for the crankcase beather connected to the SUs.

Non-emissions cars have an overflow line coming from each carb. That from the rear carb comes forward and down at an angle to meet the one from the front carb, then they both go down through a clip attached to the left-hand front engine mount.
Paul Hunt 2

Frank,

Just pulled my engine out of our non-charcoal-canister-equipped 1970 roadster this past weekend and spotted the two carb overflow lines. They are exactly where Paul Hunt 2 reports running right behind and clipped onto the front motor mount. I think the clip is held in place with one bolt. - Joe

I have some pics taken for another restoration. Post an e-mail addy inc someting like "nospam" and I will send them to you.

Gents,

Thank you for your support. Have sorted this matter meanwhile and Overflow lines have been properly fixed.
