MG MGB Technical - K&N Filters...just wondering

Cleaning up my K&N's for the new season and running low on cleaner & oil... it appears that the "special" K&N cleaner feels, smells, and tastes (don't ask!)like regular Dawn dish soap...and the "special" K&N filter oil likewise looks, feels & smells like Marvel Mystery Oil...has anyone used these substitutions and if so, what was the result?

Bob,

Yes to mild dish soap, and or environmentally safe degreasers. Thought the same, but no to Marvel Mystery Oil. I've always used the K&N Oil.

Thanks Larry! Noticed that Mystery Oil is a tad thicker...K&N seems more like ATF...but I think they cancel the warrenty if you use another oil so I'll stick with their oil...
Hope all is well in Delaware...
Warmly

Bob,

I thought the same about ATF, but only service the air filters once a year and K&N oil can usually be bought on sale locally. I have mixed Mystery Oil in the fuel tank for extended high speed drives, but that isn't too often.

Sorry we missed you and Kim at Triathlon last year, I'm sure it as fun. Connie is still recovering from her second cancer surgery in two years. She is doing much better now, and we hope to do a few more events with the DVC this year.

Going through the same with my little Sister...prayers for both...hope to see you on the road...
