MG MGB Technical - How To Remove Horn Push ? '67 GT

O.K. , I stymied - I've pulled , pushed and twisted this thing untill I am amazed it hasn't broken off in my hand yet - HOW does the doggone thing come off ? .

TIA ,

Screw off the small chrome end cap on the stalk and watch out for springs.

The horn push on a '62~'67 isn't on the stalk - it's the center " MG " crest in the steering wheel .

There's a chrome base then a bakelite housing containing the plastic MG crest . the loose one I got is all one piece and doesn't appear to have any screws in it .

The one on the car looks exactly the same but it's stuck on fast .

HELP ! .

It should twist off, dont pull it as the fixing behind is plastic, I can check the direction tonight.

Three small screws. Not in the Horn Push itself but in the steering wheelhub. Look carefully. They screw into the horn push. If you can loosen two out of the three, it will pop out.

THANX , Pete !

Apparently you are supposed to scrape 1/8" of crud off the steering wheel hub from time to time , screws are quite noticeable when you do :-) .

I guess it's time to clean and repaint the hub then , eh ? .
