MG MGB Technical - How Much.....................

....would you pay for a second hand B series engine? Complete with gearbox, clutch, weber 45, performance exhaust system and manifold(don't know what it is), flowed head (approx stage 3), big valves, 10.5:1 CR, Piper 285 cam and an alloy rocker cover. Photographic engine build.

115BHP @ the flywheel.

Just wondering how much I could get for it if I decided on a V8 or K series conversion.

Referring to 'What's it worth 'thread on "MBG General", how about $200?

What mileage has it done?
Any record of regular oil changes etc?
Do you know what the capacity is? 1840, 1860, 1950?
TIA

engine is 4 years old, don't know exactly what cc but I will look when I take the head off in the next couple of weeks(having some more work done, some nascar technology, that involves microscopic ribblets?!!). I don't know the mileage. Oil has been changed every 3k, It has been used on a few track days, but has a omex limiter set at 5500rpm. Doesn't smoke at all, and sounds awesome.

Just wondering how much I would get for it as I am roughly trying to calculate the cost of a conversion.

Around £400 in one unit - you might get more for the parts separately - short engine, £50 - £100; head, £200; gearbox, £100; exhaust, £50; weber, £50 - £100.

EBay would be a good place to sell.

Trade prices are around £40 - £100 the complete engine; £80 the gearbox (if it is OD).

I've recently heard of a B engine selling locally for $1700. Nothing fancy either, just a solid but stock motor. But heck, that's almost less than you could rebuild one for. So it depends on the buyer.
