MG MGB Technical - Horn testing

My '68 mob has twin horns mounted. They have never actioned thm because they were never hooked to the steering wheel button. I plan to pull them, clean them up and reinstall. Before I do, are there any tips to test them?

If they work, any tips for installing? Pictures are helpful... I am not confident w my electrical... But the other day I nearly got hit by a mobile phone talking idiot driver. I need my horn!

On the 68, the horns function through one of the stalks, not the fixed, center cover on the steering wheel. The system works, as I remember it, by providing power, full time, to the horns which are then grounded through the horn switch. You can test the horns, in place, by grounding them out. The older model horns, such as you should have, had an adjustment screw on them and the screw could be adjusted to provide the loudest signal. But, it has been a long time since I had to perform this job and a glance at the workshop manual, including the wiring diagram, would be in order before you begin.

There are two wires to the horn. The 12v supply is purple and the switched ground is purple and black. Make sure you ground the purple/black to test them.
