MG MGB Technical - Horn push 73 BGT

After a very lengthy resto, I came to the last item to reinstall..the steering wheel. For the life of me, I cannot get the centre horn push to locate onto the hub of the s/wheel. There are three spring clips on the back of the "push", but they will not locate into anything...is there something missing from the hub? I have only previously unbolted the wheel itself from the hub, just to clean it up..the 3 splines were then bolted back to the hub.
Help, as I have the Australian Concours next weekend!

Is your horn push like this?

There should be a retaining ring that is bolted over the three spoke arms. The retainer also has some locking tabs for the spoke retaining screws. The push clips fit into the retainer ring. Sounds like you may have not have installed the retainer ring. I don't see the ring in the Moss plate, if you cannot figure it out I have a spare hub with the retainer and con send you a photo.

Many thanks Clifton for your help..went to my old parts bin, and found the retaining ring.

Clifton, forgot to ask, but back in 2003 you had photos of the horn contact switch (part that is used as a bracket for the direction indicator) Can you supply a photo of this please.
Thanks, Gary

Gary; I couldn't find the photo you mentioned, I remember it but must have deleted it. I still have some parts so I took some photos that may help. The contact in my photo is damaged/broken on the end. The photos are here.

Boy, Yahoo sure is polite: "We are really sorry, but something went wrong while handling your request."

Rick; You should be able to see it now. It used to be simple to make the albums open to the public. It is now open to the public, I hope.
