MG MGB Technical - Gunson brake bleeding kit

I have a gunson brake bleeding kit but am wondering if there is a vital piece missing. With the bottle upright the brake fluid is at the bottom with the lightly compressed air above it. The tube from the bottle to the master cylinder is just connected to the cap of the bottle and does not extend more than 1/4 inch into the bottle. Way above the level of the fluid. How does the fluid get from the bottle to the matser cylinder? Should the feed to the master cylinder extend down into the bottle?

Peter,

There should be another tube connected to the cap, going down to nearly the bottom of the bottle so the fluid can be forced up by pressure.

I guess any rigid plastic pipe will do, provided it's a good push fit on the cap fitting.

Just been and checked my kit and there is a larger id clear plastic pipe fitted inside that extends down to the bottom of the bottle. There is a metal joint piece in the white plastic cap to which the longer smaller id clear plastic pipe fits and then you have a selection of metal caps to choose from for fitting to the brake m/c reservoir.
Word of caution - lower the tyre pressure to about 15psi otherwise it gets a bit enthusiastic! I used the right front wheel which is easily located next to the reservoir but I had the wing off and was emptying the system. If you do it, I suggest you put some plastic bags around the bottle in case of leakage, you won't want to wreck the paintwork!

Thanks for your replies. I have found some suitably sized tubing and the whole thing looks logical again. Someone must have 'borrowed' the original tube. That is, I guess, one of the advantages of having four sons. They keep you mentally alert, working out what is the missing part?
