MG MGB Technical - Fuel Line
Hi, I am in the process of installing the Fuel Line in my 1971 MGB and need to know the size of the line. The nipples I purchased from Moss for Fuel tank and fuel pump are 5/16 diameter. Does the 5/16" diameter line continue from the pump to the fuel filter or does it change to 1/4" line somewhere. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Thanks, Ken |

I just worked on my '74 lines and they are 5/16" steel up to the fuel filter where it switches to rubber. After the fuel filter there's a braided line that goes to the front carb. I think it's 1/4" ID which made the hook up to the filter a problem. I found a filter with a 5/16" inlet and 1/4" outlet at Auto Zone so I used it. Looks good and should work fine - I don't know the part number. Good luck! Jim |

Bosch sell a generic plastic filter with stepped inlet and outlet pipes. For 1/4" use it as is, for 5/16" cut the pipe off at the first step. I get them here at a shop that specialises in VW Bugs (the air-cooled variety). They have a box of them on the counter at $1 each or so... |
