MG MGB Technical - Early MGB master cylinder

I was wondering if anyone knows where I could buy a new brake master cylinder for an early MGB. I ordered one from Moss, but received this clunky looking aftermarket part. Apparently, they no longer sell the original, metal box reservoir type from the single line system. I was able to buy them from them new 4 years ago. Is no one making these anymore?

If not, does someone know who can restore the original I have? I see where Apple Hydraulics does not even offer to rebush this master cylinder.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

By the way, not looking to just replace the wearing parts, as I can get that kit from Moss. I need someone who can replate the entire cylinder as original, as I am doing this for show, not just functionality.

The metal reservoir units were changed by Lockheed/Delphi a couple of years ago to the plastic as you say but the square orginal ones were replaced many years before that. Your best bet is lickly an nos unit off of e-bay etc. I have one or two of the round metal but have not seen a new square one in a long time. Bob/International Auto

Thanks Bob, I'm already looking.

Are you aware that a rebuild kit is available for the OE master cylendars ? The kit is fairly inexpensive and may work if the interior of you old one is still useable. I believe I purchased mine from the B-Hive

Moss and VB also sell the kit I believe..

Maury--Rebuild as above if you can or call White Post Restorations for re-sleeve. 540 837 1140. www.whitpost.com. Next, you'll need metal caps for each master cyl--try Apple. As far as looking new, try soft wire wheel. Go lightly. I plugged all holes and media blasted first. Be very sure it's sealed up tight. Polish with Mother's, wipe clean with laquer thinner and clearcoat. The only comments you'll get are positive. Yet another reason for silicon fluid as it won't eat the clearcoat.
