MG MGB Technical - carb removal
hi 79mgb with 175cd z/s carb, manual choke, no air pump, etc. i have a vacuum leak, so i need to regasket the carb. what is the easiest way to remove the 4 nuts securing it, especially the 2 on the right side. do i have to remove anything else in order to access these. they seem to be a pain to get to. thanks a heap. john |

A "stubby" 1/2" combination wrench from Sears works well, or cut off part of a regular 1/2" wrench. Make sure you've removed the air cleaner assembly first. |

Hi John, As long as the air filter section is removed you should not have any problems in removing the carb with a standard size wrench, I never have. The trick is when replacing the carb, start with the lower right nut, the fit will be impossible if you try to get to that one after securing any of the others. Hope this helps. Bob Holton 80 B LE |
