MG MGB Technical - Brake line bracket

I plan on replacing the brake lines on my 1969 MGB-GT LHD. There is a bracket that secures the two front brake lines to the top of the wheel well inside the engine bay. The bracket appears to be two plates of metal, one as a backing plate, the other with two bends to go around the top of each brake line. There seems to be no screws attaching the bracket so I assume it is welded to the wheel well. There are two tabs from the bottom plate at either end of the bracket that also seem welded to the top plate. I can't figure out how to undo this bracket to remove the old brake lines. I'm wondering if the tabs need to be bent away to take the top plate off. Hate to mangle this bracket and have to throw it out as I assume it would be tough to replace. Any suggestions?

You will have to bend the two tabs out of the way carefully i'm afraid. I use the biggest flat screwdriver I could find and had no problem.
There are a few more of these brackets on your B, one close to the master cylinder, one going to the "pressure difference switch block", one close to the radiator where the lines go to the front crossmember and one securing the line going to the back to the chassis member close to the starter motor.
I might have even forgotten one..
Just take it slow and you'll be fine.
Good luck,

D,
Good luck getting them back on without the tab breaking. I finally replaced mine with rubber coated wire brackets, using the base to drill a hole for the machine screw. No, it's not orig. but, they look OK and they will conform to the lines with minimum effort. Just a suggestion.
