MG MGB Technical - Body Underseal Coverage

I would appreciate if anyone could tell me the typrcal coverage of the Tetrosyl/Waxoyl underbody seal (square metre/litre), the thick tar-like undercoat.

My '67 BGT has been cleaned to more or less bare metal and undercoated with zinc cellulose brushed paint.

Is the Tetrosyl effective in keeping out the wet over a long time? Reading through the archives, there are conflicting reports on these tar-like applications.

Any feedback or comments are welcome.

I would think you will need at least 5 lts. If you overspray the underseal each year with thinned down waxoyl that will soak into it and keep it flexable so that it doesn't crack or peel off. Its very effective on areas that get blasted with grit and road dirt such as under the wings. If you just left these painted I don't think they would stay that way for long. Show cars are just painted but they are not used as much.

I was going to use some Dintrol this winter since it creeps a few millimetres , unlike waxoyl , I thin mine with white spirit so I can spray it inside the box sections , but it still does not creep.

Brian ,

There is a VW specific undercoat product that resists
very well on time, never unsticks from basis and provides very efficient sound deadening properties. Go and see one VW agent/distributor to get more infos about it.
Hope that help!
