MG MGB Technical - 3/4' ARB End Stop advice

Im looking for a Anti Roll Bar End Stop for my 3/4 inch ARB. I only have one of the original end stops, a tapered cast alloy item in two parts. But it is not in good condition. If I did have two good ones I could drill and ream them for the 3/4 inch ARB.

I looked on the Moss, MGOG, B&G etc websites and most of the End Stops (AHH6546) are for a 11/16 inch ARB, but look to be of a pressed steel construction. (no good to open out to 3/4 inch). I even looked at the midget, Triumph, and MGB rear End Stops but none look to fit the bill.

Question is, can anyone confirm is any of the presently available End Stops are of the original construction i.e. two part cast items. If not, It looks like Im going to have to get some CNCd from aluminium at great cost.
Thank you.

Commonly available from industrial bearing/power transmission suppliers as two piece shaft collars, in any size you like, steel or alum. MSC or McMaster-Carr are two US suppliers online.

MIKE. THESE CLAMPS HAVE BEEN UNAVAILABLE FOR YEARS. JUST FIT THE BAR WITHOUT. YOU WILL FIND THAT IT WILL FIND ITS OWN POSTITION AND STAY THERE WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. RECOMMEND THE MOSS BLUE BUSHES AND LUBRICATE THOROUGHLY WITH GREASE PROVIDED. JIM S

If my V8 front ARB is anything to go by it will *not* find its own place conveniently in the middle but walk to one end or the other. In the front this means rubbing on the inside edge of the wheel rim which sounds awful. Gave up trying to find split collars, tried a worm clip on its own but that didn't grip tight enough, then Colin Parkinson emailed me saying to get a piece of hose of the correct diameter about 1" long, slit it up the side, and use a worm clip over that. I've recently done that and so far it is doing the job.

Good advice Paul, thanks, I’ll try that with some PTFE tube, until I get some aluminium ones made. FRM’s suggestion is good but I did look into this some time ago, basically the Shaft Collars I could find did not allow the sufficient rotational movement of the 3/4inch ARB as the bushes locate the ARB too close to the body.

My ARB does wander, despite what Moss advice in their catalogue, and always to the left for some reason (maybe I take more LH corners than RH?).

I also had a good look round Stoneleigh this year for some, without any luck. You’d think with an obvious market the Moss’s & MGOC’s of this world would tool-up and have some made?

B+Q two piece brass towel rail bracket, very sturdy, has a hole to drill through for a grub screw, fits my 7/8 bar like a dream and looks nice.

The 3/4 ARB on my car went on in 1994 without locating collars, it stayed pretty much where I put it and has never caused a problem. I used the split bushes supplied, it does transform the cars handling putting off any oversteer to way beyond my driving abilities, well until you help it along with the throttle.

Like Paul's bar, my 7/8" bar moved around a good bit. A couple of aluminum two-piece shaft collars did the trick.

I couldn't find them locally. A friend that orders from McMaster-Carr gave them to me.

very timely for me this - my ARB has also moved a little recently, as PO had fitted uprated ARB without clips. from the shape of it, i was surprised it moved at all - discovered it had exactly 24 hours ago. have put on jubilee clips to see if that helps, but will probably remove and put tubing underneath as decribed above. my personal theory is speed bumps - this never happened to me until after my village was covered in traffic calming humps all over the road. of course it might just be coincidence......but for sure the bar can move a little bit. and strangely enough (well, not that strange as its only a choice of left or right i guess)mine also moved towards the left.
cheers
