MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - 5.0 RV8

Thought you guys might be interested in the project I've been working on for a few months now. It's a visual replica of an MGRV8 but uses a chassis of my own design and a 5.0 Ford V8 under the hood. There's a few pics at

As I look through the pictures more, there's one where you can see inside the trunk and the back of the drivers side rear fender is visible, and it appears to be fiberglass. John Hills in the UK made a fiberglass MGR kit for converting an mgb. I'm not sure if they still make it. That would probably be the easy way of doing it. Or if someone had a set stateside and used them as a mold to make more of them.... =)

I like the front bumper more than anything else. I want to get one of those fiberglass front bumpers from morspeed in Florida and remold the turn signals to be round, and add a fog lamp ala RV8 style. I think that would make a HUGE difference in how the front of the car looks.

Yep, the fenders, bumpers and hood came from John Hills. They cost around $5k landed here and took around 100 hours to get them to fit somewhere close to being right. Of course it didn't help them not going straight onto an MGB but I tried them on one and they would still have taken a whole heap of work. No return edges to bolt to etc.

Some of the rest of the body is modified MGB panels and some I made. I'll update the pictures as I get the car finished.

How about painting it a dark metallic burgandy.

And, when finished, fabricate a modern looking engine cover to hide the carb and paint it the same color. Or go to EFI. Keep the engine bay modern looking.

Yes, I was thinking about that. One of the newer Rover colours in the UK is called Nightfire red which is a deep metallic red with a very light gold flake in it. I used to use this quite often when building Heritage shelled B's and with a tan leather interior it looked stunning.

I looked long and hard for a paintcode for Nightfire red and never found one. I went with Ford Torreador Red instead.

I used to build alot of rally cars in the UK. I designed and built a single seater for the monoposto series, Lotus 7 replica (before the book came out!) and spent a few years building Heritage shelled MGBs for Slades garage in Buckinghamshire, UK.

Unfortunately st the moment I can't scan any photos due to scanner issues but once I get it sorted I'll let you know.
