MG MGA - Wilton AE solid state Regulator needs to be revved

So I had Bob Wilton convert a voltage reg to solid state.
Nice looking conversion.
It works fine, but every time I start the car I need to rev the engine up a bit for the light to go out then it stays out.
Anyone else have this issue?

Had mine converted a couple of years ago. Have not had a similar issue but I don't have her all that finely tuned. Idle is just north of 1k.

Something isn't right if you have to give the engine a good rev to make the light go out. Check with Bob.

I can say that the electronic voltage regulator has been a worthwhile investment. Even though I had a NOS Lucas regulator and a newly rebuilt generator the head lights tended to dim at idle and occasionally the battery would run down. No more, the converted regulator seemed to have cured previous ills.

Well, Bob Wilton got back to me and indeed this is the way the SS reg works. So all is well.

Actually, his name is Bob Jeffers. He just happens to live in Wilton, NH hence the Wilton Auto Electric.
