MG MGA - Weird electrical problem! ideas?

Hi folks, I have an MGA 1500 roadster that has a weird electrical problem. I turn on the ignition switch, and turn on the passenger side turn signal and it works properly. While the trn signal is blinking, I turn on the parking lights and then the head lights and the turn signal still works properly. When I turn on the driver side turn signal, it works properly, UNTIL I turn on either the parking lights or headlights. When I tun on either the parking lights or headlights, the driver side turn signal becomes very bright, and the turn signal doesnt flash. I have checked all the connections and everything seems ok. I did have the dashboard out to repaint it, and the problem seems to have started shortly after I re installed the dashboard and wiring. When I took the dashboard out, I left most of the switches connected, and simply removed their retaining nuts, so the switches could be removed. So I cant see how that would cause the problem I am experiencing. Both rear parking lights and turn signals work perfectly whether the headlights are on or off. Any one ever run into this problem before? Any thoughts as to what the problem might be? Thanks, Glenn

Glen it could be something is not correctly earthed. I suggest you check all earthing connections for lighting.

FWIW. I had a problem with electrical system not working properly. Everything was new. Not exactly as you describe your problem. After 2 days of chasing my tail (and help from Barney)I purchased a new flasher unit for $ 10. at local auto parts store. Problem solved. Never figured the new flasher I had installed would be the culprit. Good Luck.

Left side flashing being different than right side flashing means it is drawing different current through the electrical load. This could be some high resistance connector, or possibly the wrong light bulb.

Check electrical grounding for the LF parking lamp. Alternately you may have two wires switched on the LF lamp so the TS is flashing the low filament while the parking light illuminates the high filament. This can happen if the contact plate in the bulb socket had been rotated 180 degrees out of position to switch the base contacts.
