MG MGA - Weight of engine block/crank

Does anyone know the weight of a bare engine block (1600), plus the crank...in kilo's preferably.
Gary Lock

Hi Gary - don't know if this photo is any use - a member of our club sent it me last year - not sure of the calibration of the scale - possibly pounds x 100? cheers Cam

OK Glenn, what does a person have a Chatillon scale for at home anyhow?
Mike Parker

Gary, Just happen to have a bare block and crank in my garage. The crank is a tad under 15kg. and the block, just under 50kg. Do you intend to post it? Or use it as a boat mooring?

Engine around 350 pounds, trans, I can't recall for sure - I think it is 90 pound region.

Hi Gary

As I am building a sprint car I weigh everthing, a 3 brg crank weighs 35lbs which is 15.9 kilos, the same as my forged 5 brg crank, an overbored 5 brg block weighs 56 kilos so I would imagine that Barry's weight is correct.
