MG MGA - Three Cheers to Barney!

While I don't have a great deal of time at the moment, I just wanted to thank Barney for helping me out in a tight situation. I was in the states for business and needed a gearbox. I contacted Barney, he had one, and even offered to drive 3 hours to meet me halfway so I could pick it up. Did I mention that he also broke it down, inspected it, and had it basically ready for me to mail back to Japan? We had a good meal and even better conversation. Sorry the visit had to be cut short but family obligations were priority!

A real asset to the MGA community. I hope I have the chance to meet up with him again sometime.

Hi Tom. So you're the guy! I exchanged e-mails with Barney last week hoping to get with him for help sorting out my gearbox. He said he was too busy at the moment prepping a box that had to go to Japan, and drive halfway to Indianapolis to deliver it. Then he was off to Pocono! No problem really, we'll get to my 'box in the fall! Small world indeed...
Cheers, George.

It still amazes me on this board how people from around the world can talk in just hours to get answers or order parts to fix our old cars. When I did the first MGA, I wrote a letter to England and it took 3 weeks to get there a week before the company would write back and then 3 weeks before the letter would reach me with the answer. Now I just post a question at nite and in the Morning I have the answer. The help we give each other just to keep these old cares is great. You all keep it up!!!!
