MG MGA - they must be joking

Hi guys £30K for a standard A, look out for the £25K Frogeye lol

Gordon,
You haven't taken into account it has an alternator and fuel filter fitted!
Seriously, I have visited that garage. It has some really nice cars and they are very keen on MGA's, but they also like high prices! I assumed their close proximity to Beaulieu brings in the odd punter with more money than sense.

Definitely not a concours show car. Lots of irregularities in the engina bay. Pictures don't lie, but they also don't tell the whole truth. Typical number of slick beauty photos with no photos of the underside or body sills. If you assume the worst about what you can't see, the body sills would be rusted, the car is in need of a body off restoration, and it would be worth less than half of the asking price.

If you go inspect the car, and it turns out to be a right spiffy full body-off restoration underneath, then it's worth whatever someone will pay for it. Price might be somewhat negotiable, and MGA are worth more in Europe than in North America, so maybe its not too far off the mark. Maybe it's a matter of the dealer being in the right neighborhood.

Still seems about 50% too high to me. 30K-UKP is over 50K-USD, which should buy a very nice Twin Cam.

Hi Barney and Graham, yes I missed those two valuable items lol, no doubt someone with more money than sense will buy it , I wonder if they would like a tool kit which at those rates must be worth about £1000

I used to live near there.

They are always charging well over the odds because there's a lot of minted people around that area - pop stars, etc., and "30K for a nice little run around isn't a lot" if your yearly earings are in 7 figures.

Yes, ludicrous prices, but that garage always has been, and they always manage to sell in the end.

As the saying goes, "there's a customer for everything".

Hi I wish I owned it lol, I wonder with this one whether you have to pay extra with a "marque specialist" to get the dodgey hub caps and fish tail exhaust and the coupe seats

A bit over the top - about £10K actually. And not totally right either for that money (where's the carb air inlet pipe from the front grille ) imagine spending that money and then someone pointing out all the things wrong with it at the first gathering you go to - and people do!
Cam Cunningham

Cam,
I dont have that inlet hose either which has been bothering me in this hot weather (but then I only paid £28,995 for mine - lol!).
I realise there should be a hose from inside grill to that bracket but should there be a hose on the carb side of the bracket too?
Graham M V

No hose aft of bracket on carb side. Two short hoses in front, one long hose aft going to heater inlet.
