I hate to admit it, but that would be a fun car to own! Personally I'd put a more period appropriate engine in it though.

I always thought that the MX5(Miata) engine would be quite nice in an A , also it doesn't look unlike a mga twin cam motor, I wonder if anyone has done it

I have attached a photograph of an MX5 (Miata) engine in an MGA. This photo is courtesy of Bill Spohn in Canada.
The only problem I can see is that without all the usual MGA oil leaks how would you stop the chassis from rusting?

Mick you could put one of the those automatic chain oilers for a motorcycle on it and be sure to use drain oil for authenticity.

I remember reading a magazine article about that car when it was new. I seem to recall that they had the chassis galvanized, so it should have a bit more resistance to rust than usual.
