MG MGA - SU Carb Run on Valve

The SU HIF44 I have bought for my Judson has one of above set in the butterfly disc . I read in various articles that these severely restrict air flow and are best removed and the area blanked/smoothed off ( or a new disc installed ) . Has anyone any experiences they can share?

That valve is not an anti run on valve.
It is part of the emissions reduction system and operates during braking against engine compression.
It is an engine overrun valve which is a completely different thing from an anti run on valve.
I often come across them when working on Triumph cars.
I get rid of them and replace them with a simple throttle disc.
