MG MGA - Steering wheels
I want to change the stock steering wheel to an aftermarket one. I am 6'4" and am wanting to know what size to buy. I was thinking of either a 14" or 13". I am leaning toward the 14". How many people are using a 13" and how hard is it to turn the wheel? Is the steering to touchy with the 13". Thanks |

Hi JB. I am currently running a 15 inch steering wheel, and it still has adequate leverage for steering. I did run a 14 inch steering wheel years ago. The leverage wasnt quite as good, and steering a low speed was a litte bit tougher, but not too much. It was easily bearable, but noticable heavier on turns. Hope this helps. Glenn |

If it's any help, I run a 14" Moto Lita in my MGB GT and steering effort is acceptable at low speeds. My wife finds it a bit hard to turn at a complete stop. I'm running 185/70R14 tires. |

I have a 13" and you have to have some muscle to get it around. Low speed maneuverability is poor and parallel parking is really hard. However it is not touchy at speed and allows plenty of extra room in the cockpit. I think I'd probably go for a 14" if I had it to do over. |

I put bucket seats in my MGA, my wife refused to go in the car with me if I didn't do something to prevent her having to hold on at every turn. Hence I had to change the original wheel to allow me to get in and out. I went the whole hog and bought the 13 inch. It is brilliant at speed but does require a bit of man handling when parking. That said I can easily cope with the extra effort required. |

JB Mine is a motolita 14 inch. Like the others, it builds up the muscles manoeuvring, but great at speed. You can really feel the car, it makes you feel as one. Steve |

One of those rare occasions when smaller is better! |

My original black one was a bit tatty, I rubbed it down and sprayed it, it looks as good as new! Never been fitted, I went for a wooden one (looks good) You need a smaller with on a Coupe, something to do with the cockpit. It gets worse ! |

Hi, i'm 6'3'' and not too skinny. I have installed a 15 inch Motolita steering wheel and it was ''the solution'' to get in my Coupe. It works fine for me. Regards, Jean Marc |
