MG MGA - Reversed Heater Actuator

Last night I discovered that the actuator for the heater appears to be reversed. When I push over to MAX the heater shutoff valve is closed.....over to min and its completely open.

Obviously something at the actuator end has been put together in reverse. Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks as always,

Tysen

The same question was on a thread: "Heather Valve" posted 20 October 2003; see the archives!
(Later I found out that the word heather must be "heater")

I have just looked under the dashboard. It is possible that you have the slider plate mounted upside down. (Others will no doubt tell you if this is possible as I have not had it apart in 9 years.) You can quickly check this: The electrical terminal post for the blower pull switch should be on the bottom side of the plate and the bowden cable anchor point should be on the right hand (hot) side of the assembly.

The other possibility is that you have the incorrect valve on the engine. I believe there is something in the archives about a similar selector valve for other cars that works in the opposite sense.

Well done Walter. This is it:

I see it was your entry. It confirms both of my points.
