MG MGA - Rattle in the shifter

I recently noticed a vibration and rattle coming from the shifter at 55 MPH. when I grab it does not stop. It’s not real loud just a little irritating. Any hints as to its origin?

Just a guess - Propshaft UJ beginning to wear?

If the rattle doesn't stop when you grab the shifter, it's not the shifter rattling. Also check to see if the rattle persists when you put it in neutral and coast at the same speed while allowing the engine to slow down to idle (different vibration frequency). If so, then the rattle may be coming from the propshaft. This could be a loose dust cup on a mid 1500 type propshaft, July 1956 to December 1958 issue.
