MG MGA - Radio's for 'A's'

What type of radio's have people got in there "A's". Have many people got the orginal radio's still fitted for example RadioMobile 20x or 50T models
Alan Stout

Alan,
Mine says it's is a "Motorola- Transistor Powered" It is AM only and has a speaker in the bottom of it.

I've got a Radiomobile 50T installed in my coupe, although it is not hooked-up to power/speaker. I just have it there for looks.

Mine's a Radiomobile 20X but it's a 6 volt one so not at present wired up. It does work, I just haven't got round to making the converter.

Falcon. As in exhaust. Attached to my MGA's engine, it's the only music I need. :)
Steve Simmons

You're a sick boy Steve. Will see you on Mon. for the run. I have the best of both world's, a Falcon exhaust and a RADIO that I can hear. It is not original but I have the sounds that I want.

There was a recent Overhaulin' episode on TLC that featured an advertisement for a stereo that had a very small interface which could be hidden under the dash for classic cars: http://www.casmfg.com/ and follow the secret audio link.

They also have modern radios which fit older cars -- strictly US it looks like, but you could ask...

Someone has to make a modern radiomobile look alike that has a discreet CD player, etc. for british cars, I just haven't found it yet.
AJ Mail

Gil,
I also have one of the Motorola transistor AM's.
Do you think they were original BMC radios or dealer installed?
Pete
Pete W.

Pete, I am pretty sure that it was a dealer installation.

Mine has a Radiomobile 1070 with a +ve/-ve earth switch which was useful when I switched polarity last year.

I have the "BMC" radio that was in my 68 MGB. This is to prevent people from calling me a purist. :-) (Also for sentimental reasons.) I've never hooked up a speaker to it, though. I need to get one of the "cardboard box" kits from Todd Clarke.

I have a Radiomobile 50T in my "A" it's fully wired up but no speaker connector...does it have to have a special amp to connect to a speaker
Alan Stout

My Magnette has a Radiomobile 50T and there is just one small elliptical speaker - no external amp.

Greetings all:

And not a single one of us has a 600W system with Kicker subs, neon lights and a video/nav system? What's wrong with us?

Ha, ha.

See you in Gatlinburg!!
Gary

Yes thats right Gary, but how many of us can actually hear our radios? I can't hear mine much above 35MPH so at cruising 70 to 75 I have no chance?
Bob (robert) I am turning? yes I once owned an MGWasp!!

andy what is the speaker connector like on the radio does it have a three prong connector into the base of the radio ?
