MG MGA - Putting oil in the steering rack

I recently topped up the oil in my steering rack the easy way. Used an oil can similar to below and slipped the nozzle into the rubber boot at the tie rod end andd wrapped a rag around where it entered to help retain the oil and pumped away. Repeated on the other side. Checked i had enough oil in the system by moving the rack from side to side and listerning for the slooshing sound. Supposed to have 250 mls of oil when full. Oil can had no proplem pumping 90 grade oil. A lot simpler than trying to get it in via the grease nipple and a pom pom pump with the radiator in the way!

It is certainly a pain getting at those nipples with the radiator in situ. I went for the old pre-war MG centalised lube system. I drilled out the nipples, soldered a short length of brass tubing into each and attached plastic tubing. I then ran the the tubing up the side of the radiator. Every now and then I use a similar oil can to yours to pump it down the tubes. In slow time the oil passes through the drilled out nipples and into the box.

My first car was a 1938 Rover 14 Sportsman. It had a central lubrication system, powered by engine vacuum that served all the things like ball joints, spring shackles, brake rod pivots etc, using 30 wt engine oil.
Of course by the time I bought it in 63 all the tubes had blocked and I resorted to grease nipples.
Sorry, off topic.
Watching "The hour" on Netflix there is an episode 3 or 4 that has nice footage of an MGA both inside and out being driven.
