MG MGA - pressure plate to flywheel question

When I put the flywheel, clutch plate, and pressure plate assembly together flat on the bench, there is a 3/16" gap between the flange of the pressure plate and the flywheel surface. Is this OK? They look to be in contact from the drawing in the WSM.

Thanks, George

When you bolt them together the edges of the pressure plate will be pulled flat against the flywheel.

It's that spring pressure that keeps the clutch plate against the flywheel when the car is moving.

Make sure you use a clutch centering tool when you bolt everything together on the engine.

Don't make the mistake I did and put the clutch plate in backwards.

The old clutch discs used to be stamped "this side toward flywheel", but I notice that the new ones are not....I keep an old one just to remind me.
