MG MGA - Part synthetic oil in the gearbox

10W 40. Good idea or bad? I run it in the engine with no problems as far as I know, so does it follow that it should be ok for the gearbox?

Thoughts appreciated guys.

Alan,

I believe the general consensus is to use 20 50 wt but not synthetic. The synthetic is a bit too slippery for the syncros to work properly.

Thanks Ray. This is part synthetic not fully, same comment applies right? I had a look in the archive and could't see any thread on this

I will stick to tried and trusted then.
