MG MGA - Origional MGA Value

I am trying to determine what my 58 MGA should sell for. I have many restored cars go for 17000 to 22000 but have not seen any origional cars for sale. This is an origional MGA with 56000 miles with origional paint with a few flaws but no cracking, leather seats, motor, trans and rear end. The motor has never been out of the car. It runs great. no rust, Looks like an older restoration. Has AM World Radio in it. Was converted to Neg. Ground but otherwise in unmolested.
Take a look at the photos at http://picasaweb.google.com/mgbtaxiguy/MGA
and give me an opinion on what the asking price ought to be.

Thanks

$25,000.

Judging by the traces of overspray underneath, I am suspicious of the "original paint" claim, and would from that be inclined to take a much closer look before buying. In my experience, when something like that is easily spotted, other things are lurking not far behind.

In Australia around $A20,000.

I agree with Dominic, there is loads of non original stuff on the car so it's not quite what you have been led to believe that it is. From the pictures I think that Rick and Mark are about right if a little on the high side.

To me , for a supposedly original car there are numerous overspray sites in the engine area. Look at the master cylinder and to the left the cable has grey-red residue. How did the boot on the steering rack get red. I am certain that there is many more area that need exploring. Athough it is a car that I would like to have I cannot suggest a value above $15000.00 without further exploration.

I spotted the car jack in the trunk. Could you please tell me if it is a Shelley or a King Dick. If it's a Shelley,I would be interested in a few more details for my research.

Thanks

...a nice car, among other things I also question the door and kick panel vinyl, but it is a good find.

What is the round thing fixed to the fan guard on top of radiator? I've not seen one of those before.
Also there are two brass fittings on the bottom of the dashboard. I wonder if they were for rally instruments?

Thanks for all the comments. I was told it was original paint when I bought it in the mid 90s but have no way to know for sure. I did repaint the shelf in the engine Compartment as it was a mess from years of brake fluid and I also repainted the heater box. That would explain the over spray around the master cylinder. As for any other areas I can't be sure but it looks like the origional to me. Thanks for the Estimates

By the way that is a pulley on top of the radiator shroud for a radiator shade, mount are at bottom of the radiator. When it was cold out the shade was raised by a cord that extended out of the grill. You pull it to raise the shade.

It is in Jacksonville, Florida

Hi I thought the cord for the radiator blind went into the car and under the dashboard which might account for the fittings you found there

You could be correct. From the placement of the shade brackets at the bottom of the radiator and the pulley at the top I assumed it went out the front of the grill but it could fish its way to the dash. I will have to check it out and see if I can find any other pulleys or brackets for it on the sides or back of the engine bay.
