MG MGA - Original T Nuts to fix seat frame to floor
Does anyone know a supplier of the original style T Nuts used to hold the seat frame down (photo attached). I have a pedantic friend! Mike |

What thread is that- I helped a mate put a rock climbing wall together a while back and the fasteners looked very close to that in the pic. although I think they were flat accross the end and just the 3 screw holes ,no dimples, They were either 5/16 or 3/8unf -I can check up if you want-only remember because I was surprised they were imperial threads I'll check tomorrow where he got them, I think it was Sydney somewhere-- I think they've got another name as well as T nuts can't think what it is but will-------------------- |

Todd Clarke in the U.S. has them; here's a link to his catalogue. The T nuts are listed on page 29, part #F22: http://www.clarkespares.com/CSR_CATALOGUE-2011.pdf |

Mike, I've got some to spare if you can't get them locally...I get mine from Todd. |

According to my friend the Todd Clarke units are not the same as originals - as I said he is very pedantic. I’ll find out what thread they are suppose to be. Mike |

Mike, I've got some Abingdon dust for his car if he's that pedantic! LOL...never seen anyone goe that far in a restoration. |

NTG carries them. |

The original TNuts should be 1/4” UNF thread, 3/4” diameter, as per images attached according to my sources. Can anyone confirm NTG supply are as per these images? Mike |

Mike Checked up on the climbing wall nuts and they're all 3/8"unc - still looking |

Hi Mike I visited NTG when rebuilding my A in 2015 and bought 12 T-Nut floorboards Mga (J375D) They differ in shape. I think my originals were circular but could not find them in 2015. Cheers Brian |

Mike I am pretty pedantic too and I'm sure I got mine from Todd about 10 years ago. In what way does your friend think that Todd's are not correct? The issue I recall was finding some nails that were just the right length to fix them to the floorboards! I don't think I could find any that were exactly the same as the originals. Now how pedantic is your friend? Does he want the right nails? |

He is one short with the oriignals he has collected. I will check with him where Todd Clarke units differ. Mike |

....and update on correct TNuts for an MGA for concours nuts! See photo attached, the units on the left are correct, the middle ones are from NTG (different shape) and those on the left are from Todd Clarke (they are larger and made from aluminium). All jokes aside it is great to see people are prepared to chase down original specification parts - we are not all racers! Mike PS If anyone has an orignal TNut spare I’m sure my mate would be interested. |

Mike, why don't you put this out on the MG Experience forum?...much larger group. |
Gary Lock |
If you copy and paste the text to the photo note you have two lefts and no right. Not that I'm any good at lefts and rights, my navigator often says "No, the other left!". |

Nigel, it seems like I got too involved in this thread and forgot to change hands! Mike |

Back to originality fetishises - I have a pair of original headlamp sockets that could be reused with new wires. Perfectly good except the wiring had dry rotted and I fitted new pigtail assemblies. |
