MG MGA - Oil filter cross reference no's - cartridge type

Due to popular demand I am prepared to post on my web site cross reference numbers for MGA and early MGB original cartridge type oil filters. Having none of these numbers in hand, I am hereby soliciting for contributions of this information.

The factory Service Parts List for MGA 1500 lists
original part number as 8G683

Moss Motors (USA) sells:
Crossland brand felt filters as 950-010
Various makers felt filters as 950-510
Crossland brand paper filter as 950-030
Various makers paper filter as 950-530

Victoria British lists:
Unspecified brand felt filter as 30104
Unspecified brand paper filter as 3-121

If anyone has in their posession a cartridge type oil filter for MGA or MGB, felt or paper type (or any other material that works), could you please send me the manufacturer's name and part number.

Some aftermarket filters may also have cross reference for other manufacturers filter numbers printed on the box, sometimes on the inside cover flap, so please look there too.

On behalf of the MG community at large, thank you for your assistance.

Barney - Here are several locally available filter cartridges that fit late TD, TF, MGA and early MGBs:
Hastings P172, AC AC32A, Fram CH814PL. These numbers should also cross to NAPA or other common filter elements. Cheers - Dave

I looked up the NAPA number the other day and IIRC, it was a number 1300. I also have a few filter elements purchased by my dad during the 80s from the place in Rhode Island, I will try to remember to dig them out tomorrow and post the info.

WIX 51300
Purolator L20021
Jeff Schultz

"TJ" brand oil filter number FP3317, with packaging marked "Made in Great Britain."

FYI, you can generally take the WIX filter number, and drop the first digit to get the NAPA number. Napa filters used to be made by WIX, although I don't believe that that is true any longer.

Barney,

The following filters work on my cartridge adaptor for the MGA (all long cartridge):
K&N HP2009
Fram PH3600
Kralinator L38
WIX 51374

And for an inverted filter on my B: K&N HP2004.

Karl, - Those are numbers for spin on filters (most of which I already have). We're looking for numbers for the cartridge filter which goes inside of the original style heavy steel cannister (not spin-on).
