MG MGA - Oil dipstick

My 1500 engine has no dust cap on the oil dipstick. I would like to make one for it, but don't know the proper placement. Could some one measure from the end of sick to the inside end of the cap. Thank you.

Dave, My 1500 dipstick bottoms out on the oil pan and I used an old distributor boot as a rubber boot and wired it in place to seal the end of the tube. Works well.

Put the rubber seal on the dip stick, install dip stick, push down until seal contacts top of tube, continue pushing until stick hits bottom of oil pan, and you are done.
