MG MGA - Oil Cooler

Could someone out there please tell me whwre I can get details of the plumbing involved in fitting an oil cooler. I have looked at Barneys site, but it doesnt show the connection into the oil lines. The kit I have bought has the unit and two short hoses and a threaded nipple. My local mechanic is too young to figure out how it should be plumbed in.
Thanks Cameron

The oil cooler lines connect in place of the steel line that goes from the oil filter head to the rear of the block

Cameron I have just sent 3 pictures that should answer your questions to the E-mail address shown above.
Good luck

Thanks very much for your help with the photos and the manual. I think I'll be able to sort it out now.

I have had my oil cooler fitted for a few years now and my opinion its the best thing I ever did especially on those hot summer days. Not hard to fit either now that you have pictures of the installation

Original MGA factory oil coolers had steel lines running from under the air pan below the cooler, back under the radiator, then up along the inner fender. From there short hoses were run to the engine. Most aftermarket kits have long hoses to run all the way form the cooler to the engine with no steel lines.

A strange bit of trivia. The pushrod MGA has steel pipes from the cooler and under the radiator, then flexible hoses to the engine, as Barney says.
The mga twin cam has flexible hoses from the cooler and under the radiator, then steel pipes to the engine.
Only the MG factory would do that, to confuse people.
