MG MGA - Not MGAs but Frogeyes

Hi all,
My name is Gary Lazarus and I may be known to some of you as the editor of the midget and Sprite Club's magazine "Mascot".

I've popped over from the Midget & Sprite general BBS to see if any of you can help.

I'm aware that some of you have previously owned Mk1 Sprites before graduating to MGAs and I'm hoping that nostalgia has prevailed and you've held on to some images of your old (and possibly long lost) Mk1 Sprite.

If you did own a UK registered Mk1 Sprite please cold you check to see if it's on the database at http://frogeye.fotopic.net/

The database is designed to be a free reference point for ex-owners who wish to know if their old Frogeye still exists as well as for new owners wishing to fill in gaps in their cars history. We have already had some success in putting the ex-owner of a Frogeye (who sold it 30 years ago) in contact with its current keeper and he was able to supply a lot of the previous history much to the delight of both of them. We've also in the last couple of weeks been able to provide the (well known) owner of a Mk1 Sprite with the information that his car was used by Williams and Pritchard early in the companies history. He was unaware of this as was the Williams & Pritchard register who had no knowledge of the survival of such an important Sprite.

I must emphasize that this is not a commercial venture, just an extension of my hobby.

The web site with the first 700 (or so) cars can be seen here http://frogeye.fotopic.net/ and there about another 300 cars still to go on (subject to copyright permission).

The database would welcome any additional images of Mk1 Sprites not already listed from members of the MGA BBS

Many thanks in in advance

Gary

Thanks for your input dominic.
As the car has no registration number I'm afraid that it is ineligable to be placed on the photographic database.
Gary Lazarus

I have emailed Gordon to ask him where he is. May be he will enter a few words.

I used to worry if I should bring my admittedly odd sense of humour to these pages and the cool response from a couple of our slightly offended US friends to one of my comments last year on this BBS seemed to confirm this.
I admit that some of my suggestions for further uses for the " Leopard-skin Bed-Liner" that they were discussing on the thread at the time were not really helpful!

But having seen Dominics response above, Im finally beginning to really feel "at home" here.

Brilliant Dominic
(and apologies in advance to anyone I incidentally offend in the future)
Sorry I havent any Midget or Sprite info Gary but I may have the odd photo of a friends Sprite from the 60s, I will look it up for you.

Many thanks Colyn. I look forward to seeing them.

You should pop over the the Midget & Sprite General BBS where talk of Sheep and mudwrestling are sometimes contained within the same post.
To the rest of you, I apologies for lowering the tone (I am after all a Spridget owner).

Dominic's picture reminds me of a humiliating moment some 20 years ago when I first owned my MGA.
I was brimming with pride when, as I stopped at a road junction, a small boy nearby shouted "Look Mum, A Noddy Car!"
Personally I can see no similarities and I can assure you I was not wearing a pixy hat with a bell on it!

That's beautiful.
Very many thanks Peter, you have mail.

Hi Gary
Just went on to your database to see if mine (WFG335)was there and was surpised & delighted to discover a photo of her. Someone obviously snapped her at Gaydon last year. How do I update the details?

If it was Gaydon, then it was almost certainly taken by me. You should be able update it by finding the image and then leave an update by pressing the "comments" button.
I have just checked my images and I have a head-on and a rear shot of your car at gaydon. I would be happy to email them to you.

Regards

I have just had a response from our Gordon Pugh. He says that Gary already has his (ex) Sprites on his site.

Asked why he has not made a guest appearance recently, Gordon replied: "...I also hate being a spectator just makes it harder not having the car anymore".

Not only do I have Gordon's ex car on tthite, I also have two of his father's ex cars too.
I really do appreciate you allowing me to barge into this MGA BBS.
Gary Lazarus

Gary,
That would be kind, thanks. gmv22@hotmail.co.uk. Strange the one on the database looks like I have a dent in the bonnet. Must have been dinked and repaired while I had lunch!
Thx - Graham
