MG MGA - nice ebay coupe

I've been watching this coupe since it came up, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=006&item=160005506062&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
,it looks to be the twin of mine except converted to RHD. Not one of you fellow coupe owners have commented on it! Oh sure I see some of you, and you know who you are (GT) are captivated by the pretty red head in a previous thread, where will she be when it starts to rain or get cold? I'll bet if Glenn was a coupe owner he could come up with a poem about this injustice! LOL Gary

I notice that the operating lever for the turn signals is pointing up instead of down.
I suppose that the electrical cables are fitted to the wrong terminals and he has it pointing up so that pushing to the left operates the left signal etc.

See Barney Gaylord's article:

Well, here's a $36400 1500 Coupe. The only thing I noticed missing a the finishing strips on the sills.

Derek Nicholson

Derek is looking at a white one listed on US E-Bay I believe not the blue one linked above. See this link.

And a proper coil mount.
Where are his seat belts mounted?
He calls it "concourse" and it is a beautiful car but with CDs, spin on oil filter, 60 spoke chrome wires with radial tires and other improvements it really isn't.
When the black roadster reached $36,000 + and did not sell recently I was surprised. No way a coupe will reach 36. I wonder where the reserve is and if it really is for sale or just justifying an insurance value?

Love the car. A very nice Coupe indeed. I've never understood why some restorations paint the block and cylinder head after assembly. Painted head bolts look wrong. Is this the way it was from the factory?

skip

I just looked at the white coupe,a terrific car, I for one hope he gets his price. I believe the value of our MGA's must rise to help justify our expenses.I have several unfinished MGA restorations, that I just let sit, because I cant justify the cost of time and labor to finish them. After the thrill of finishing a full resto wears off and reality sets in,it seems only the select few with that kind of disposable income can absorb the loss.Of the hot rod guys I know, most say no thanks to a loss. I do have an old beater that I drive everywhere,so I suppose this allows me to let the others sleep. I also understand all the other reasons for doing restorations, and they are valid also.

Skip- Originally the engines were assembled and then painted, and I agree with you, they do look wrong, but I personally think as long as you don't chrome plate them they look good either way

Or worse yet, get a little paint brush and paint them yellow, as I saw dome (fortunately) only once.

It looks like a very nice restoration, but I'm not sure how I feel about Iris blue with red interior. Kind of an odd color combo, in my opinion
M. D.

I agree M.D. I went with black with the light blue myself. I think the reason it's red is because they said the car was originally black so perhaps after they bought the interior they changed their minds on the exterior or it's been re repainted.
