MG MGA - MGB electronic fuel pump for MGA 1500

Am wanting to replace a tired SU fuel pump and would like to know if an MGB electronic fuel pump would suitable.
Thanks
M THOMPSON

The Burien web site lists different electronic SU fuel pumps for the early MGB and MGA. The MGA version is part number AZX1332EP(positive ground)or AZX1332EN (negative ground). http://www.sucarb.co.uk/SUpumpClassic.aspx?ProductId=26787

Moss and others carry the MGA electronic versions. I installed one a couple of years ago.

MT - As John states, there is no difference between the pumps for the MGA and the early MGB. The later MGBs use a AZX 1307 or a AZK 1318 depending on polarity. These later pumps will work fine for the MGA, but have a different footprint and bolt size for mounting and a different system for attaching the fuel lines to it. Unless someone is giving you a late MGB pump for free, I would suggest sticking with the ones listed by John. Cheers - Dave

thanks John and David

Another option is to retro fit an electronic replacement kit to my existing pump

Can anyone tell me where these are now available?

'Tis a marvellous thing , this web!

Thank you

I have a modern Fuelflo (NZ?) fitted to one of my MGA's (for several years). Far better than the original SU (HP type ?) which are now breaking down (due to breakdown of armature windings) and not really repairable. Quieter than a Facet but the latter are quite reliable, I understand. The other MGA has an MGB SU. Fuelflo's are so light (plastic) that they do not need mounting (the rubber hoses are quite sufficient) and completely reliable. I have Fuelflo pumps in other cars such as MGC and prewar F2.

Mark, As far as I know Fuelflo only make one type, have been getting mine locally from Bob Bazzica (MG Sales). Neil apparently has info and appears to be able to give you more details.
