MG MGA - MGA 1800, 5speed on Ebay

This car was wrecked but they state it has a Moss 5-speed transmission installed and it is not overdrive. The Moss description of the transmission doesn't state it isn't but it is the Sierra transmission. Is the Moss kit different from the Hi-Gear transmission kit?

This car appears repairable but needs a body off repair to straighten the frame and the body tub. And get it all painted the right colors. A tempting project.

Jim, the 5 speed kit that Moss sells is a rebuilt Ford Sierra gearbox along with the Hi-Gear conversion. The view from underneath in the ebay listing shows the gearbox and cross member and confirms that this is what's installed in the car.

The guy who rebuilt the engine has posted on the MG experience forum:

It seems that this would be a fantastic project car, chance to adjust the yellow chassis and body or green engine paint, if that's not to your taste! Note the Porsche badge on the grille!

About the porsche badge, any time some idiot looks at one of my MGAs and asks "is it a porsche?" I answer No I dont drive volkswagons.
The person that did this one has very poor taste and an inferiority complex. But because of his lazy ignorance it looks like someone should get a decent car to restore though at 8 grand + not as good a deal as it could have been.'

....I looked at it too, among other things,I could say, I will say this. The claim that the frame damage is minor, leads me to ask, when the back cross member got pushed in just where did the rest of the frame go. I say it moved in at the paralle and it moved up and forward at the curve over the axle. Not an easy fix with the body on.
